Can my astigmatism be corrected with LASIK surgery?
One of the questions frequently asked by patient’s considering laser vision correction is if astigmatism can be corrected with LASIK surgery. The answer is yes!
In a normal eye the cornea is shaped like a baseball. For patients that have an astigmatism the cornea is more oblong, similar in shape to a football. This causes light entering the eye to converge at multiple points, resulting in blurry vision.
During LASIK surgery, Dr. Hunkeler uses the Visex laser to flatten the steeper curves of cornea, reshaping the cornea to the baseball shape. So, not only during LASIK surgery can we give you freedom from glasses and contacts, but also sharper vision.
At Hunkeler Eye Institute we offer free refractive screenings. Please contact our office today to schedule an appointment.
